Language Boss vs Praktika: which is better for speaking English?

It depends on whether you want a tutor to talk to or a scene to play. Praktika gives you AI avatar tutors in 14 language options, with tips after each response and a score for each word when you ask. Language Boss only teaches spoken English. Koda writes each scene from your goal, the character fixes your mistakes in role, every sound you said is scored after the call, and X-ray Mouth draws the tongue over your own face. Praktika doesn't score each sound or show you your mouth.

A tutor, or a character in a scene

Praktika gives you a tutor to look at: you talk to an avatar on what looks like a video call, and you can bring your own material. Uploading a resume to practice for an interview is a good idea. If you want a tutor to talk to, or you want other languages, that is what it is for.

In Language Boss the person you talk to isn't teaching you. It is a barista, an interviewer, a landlord, and you have something to get done with them. The teaching happens around the scene: a table read before it, the character's natural corrections during it, and your sounds and lines after it. Koda writes it from what you told him you want English for. Here is what the research says about role-play, including its limits.

Feedback when you ask, or on every sound

In Praktika you tap "?" on one of your messages to see how it scored, word by word, and you can play the tutor's version beside yours and retry. That is handy for checking a sentence you weren't sure about.

In Language Boss, every sound of a live take is scored after the call whether you asked or not, and it adds up across every scene into a ranked list of what to fix first. You find out what you keep getting wrong without having to suspect it first. X-ray Mouth then draws the physical change over your own cheek. No other language app draws it over your own face. Start with the th sound or v and w.
